Personalised Wedding Gifts the Couple Will Actually Use
Practical personalised wedding gifts that earn a place in the couple’s home, from chopping boards and coasters to honeymoon passport holders, plus etiquette tips on names and dates.

Most couples leave their wedding with at least one gift they are not quite sure what to do with. The ones that stick around are the gifts that get used: on the worktop, on the coffee table, on the first night of the honeymoon.
Personalisation turns a useful thing into a keepsake. Their names, their date and their photo make an everyday object a small reminder of the day, every time they pick it up. Here are the wedding gifts we think earn their place in a new home, plus some practical advice on getting the details right.
For the kitchen: a personalised chopping board
A chopping board might not sound romantic, but it is one of the most-used things in any kitchen. Our personalised glass chopping board is tempered glass with the design printed on the underside, so knives cannot scratch it off, and it is smart enough to leave out on display.
What to put on it: their shared surname with “Est.” and the wedding year, such as “The Walkers · Est. 2026”. Or go sentimental with a wedding photo and their first names. It comes in small, round and large sizes, so pick the round one if their kitchen is more about cheese boards than carving.
For the coffee table: coasters with their names and date
Coasters get used every day, which makes them one of the most practical wedding gifts there is. There are a few ways to go:
- Engraved wooden coasters. A photo engraved wooden coaster with a close-up of the couple, their first names curved over the top and the wedding date underneath. Order the set of four with the same design.
- Beer mats for the home bar. If the couple are building a bar (or a shed that is secretly a bar), a set of engraved wooden beer mats with “The Walker Arms · Est. 2026” is a gift they will show off to every visitor. There is a wine glass and grapes design for wine lovers too.
- Printed photo coasters. A set of four photo coasters lets you use four different moments: the proposal, the engagement party, a holiday and the big day itself.
For the mantelpiece: a crystal photo block
If you want one keepsake rather than something for the kitchen, a crystal photo block is a lovely choice. The photo is printed on the back face of a polished crystal block, so it appears to float inside. The small size comes in a presentation box.
Because the wedding photos often arrive weeks after the day, this works well as a first anniversary or a “thank you for having us” gift a few months later. Alternatively, use a favourite engagement photo and give it on the day. A photo slate is a more rustic alternative with its own stand.
For the honeymoon: personalised passport holders
Here is one most guests do not think of. A pair of personalised passport holders with “Mr Walker” and “Mrs Walker” (or whichever titles they prefer), and “Honeymoon 2026” underneath. They hold boarding passes and cards, and they will come out on every trip afterwards.
A word of caution: if one of them is changing their name, their passport will not change straight away. Many people travel on their honeymoon with their old passport, booked in their old name. The holder is just a cover, so a new name on the outside is absolutely fine, but it is a nice touch to check what they are planning before you choose the wording.
For the wedding party: gifts for the best man, ushers and bridesmaids
If you are part of the couple, or helping them organise, thank-you gifts for the wedding party are a lovely tradition, and practical ones get used long after the day.
Pint glasses for the best man and ushers
An engraved pint glass with each person’s name, their role (“Best Man”, “Usher”, “Father of the Bride”) and the date. We engrave them on a rotary so the text wraps neatly around the glass, and the frosted etch will not wash off. Order one per person if each needs a different name.
Tote bags for the bridesmaids
A personalised tote bag with “Bridesmaid” and each name and date is useful on the morning itself, for carrying shoes, make-up and emergency supplies, and for years afterwards.
T-shirts for the stag and hen do
Matching personalised t-shirts are a stag and hen tradition for a reason. Add a photo of the groom or bride (the more embarrassing, the better) and the destination.
Personalised wedding gift etiquette: getting the details right
Personalisation is wonderful until there is a typo in it. A few minutes of checking makes all the difference.
Spellings
Double-check every name, even ones you think you know. Is it Katherine or Catherine? Jon or John? Do they use a nickname everyone knows them by, or will they want their full names on a keepsake? The wedding invitation is usually the most reliable source.
Which surname?
Do not assume. Couples might take one surname, keep their own, double-barrel, or create something new. If you are not sure, there are safe options:
- Use first names only: “Sarah & Tom · 14.06.2026”.
- Use both surnames if they are keeping their own.
- Ask someone close to the couple who will know.
Date formats
In the UK, “14.06.2026” and “14th June 2026” are both clear. Avoid formats like “06/14/26”, which read the American way and may confuse anyone looking at it later. Roman numerals (XIV.VI.MMXXVI) look elegant but take up a lot of space, so they work best on larger items. On small items, shorter lines engrave and print larger, so less is often more.
Timing
Every item is made to order. We make it in 1–3 working days, then Royal Mail delivers in 2–3 working days, with flat £4.99 UK delivery. Every order is checked by a person before it is made. For a wedding, we would suggest ordering at least two weeks before the day, so there is time for any questions about the design and nothing is cutting it fine. If you are ordering lots of gifts for the whole wedding party, give yourself a little longer.
Do not worry about giving the gift on the day itself, either. Many couples appreciate a gift that arrives after the wedding, when the dust has settled and they have time to enjoy it.
