About Laser & Ink
Laser & Ink is a small, independent maker based in Sowerby Bridge, in the Calder Valley just outside Halifax. We make personalised gifts: laser engraved wooden coasters and pint glasses, printed mugs, slates, keyrings, clothing and more, each one made to order for the person who’ll be opening it.
Who we are
We’re not a factory and we’re not a faceless marketplace seller. Your order is made here in West Yorkshire, by hand, on our own machines. If you email us, you’ll get a reply from the same person who’ll be making your gift.
How we work
- Everything is made to order. Nothing sits on a shelf waiting for a name. We make your item in 1–3 working days, then it goes out by Royal Mail, usually arriving 2–3 working days later.
- A real person checks every design. Before anything is engraved or printed, we look over your text and photo. If a photo is too dark or low resolution to come out well, or something looks off, we’ll get in touch before we make it.
- We make exactly what you type. The live preview on each product page shows you how your design will look. We don’t correct spellings or change names, because “Jayne” and “Jane” are both right to someone.
- If we get it wrong, we put it right. If your item arrives damaged, faulty or not as you ordered, we’ll replace or refund it. See Delivery & Returns.
The kit
Laser engraving
Our engraved pieces are made on a Creality Falcon 10W diode laser, driven by LightBurn software. The laser burns your design into the surface of the material, so it won’t peel, rub off or fade. For pint glasses we use a rotary attachment, which turns the glass as the laser works so the design wraps neatly around the curve. Our engraved wooden mats are 95mm round and 7mm thick, with four rubber feet underneath so they sit flat and don’t scratch the table.
Sublimation printing
Our printed products, from mugs and photo slates to t-shirts and keyrings, are made by dye sublimation. The design is printed with special inks, then heat pressed so the ink turns to gas and bonds into the coated surface or fabric. The result is full colour, sharp, and part of the item rather than sitting on top of it.
Why personalised gifts?
Because the best presents are the ones that could only be for one person. A coaster with the name of someone’s home bar, a mug with the dog’s face on it, a glass engraved for a best man: these are the gifts that get kept, used and talked about long after the wrapping paper has gone.
We also take on custom and business work, from branded beer mats for pubs and breweries to wedding favours and one-off pieces. Have a look at our custom laser engraving service.
