Choosing the right photo gift

Start by thinking about how the photo will be enjoyed. Will it sit on a mantelpiece, get used every day, or be carried around?

Keepsakes to display

The personalised photo slate is a 15 × 20cm piece of natural rock slate with a gloss finish, hand-chipped edges and a display stand. The crystal photo block is printed on the back face, so the image seems to float inside the polished crystal. The small size comes in a presentation box. Both are lovely for weddings, anniversaries, new babies and remembrance.

Photos for everyday use

Most of our photo gifts are printed using dye sublimation, which reproduces your photo in full colour and bonds the ink into the surface so it doesn't peel. Getting your photo ready

• Upload the original file, not a screenshot. Photos at least 1000px wide give the sharpest results.
• Choose good light and a clear subject. Close-ups beat distant group shots, especially on small items like keyrings and necklaces.
• Think about shape: landscape for mugs, portrait for phone cases, and a tight crop for round or heart-shaped pieces.
• For engraving, pick a photo with strong contrast between the subject and the background.
