Frequently Asked Questions
Can’t find what you’re looking for? Email us at grant@laserandink.co.uk and we’ll get back to you, usually within 1–2 working days.
Ordering
How do I order a personalised gift?
Choose a product, add your text and photo (if it needs one) and check the live preview. When you’re happy, add it to your basket and pay securely at checkout. We’ll email you to confirm your order.
How do I pay?
Payments are handled by Stripe, so you can pay by card and, depending on your device, Apple Pay or Google Pay. We never see or store your card details.
Can I change or cancel my order?
Email us at grant@laserandink.co.uk as soon as possible. If we haven’t started making it yet, we’ll happily make changes or cancel it. Once an item has been engraved or printed we can’t change it, because it’s been made just for you.
Do you do bulk or business orders?
Yes. We make branded coasters and beer mats, wedding favours, corporate gifts and small batch runs. See our custom laser engraving service and send us your details for a quote.
Why is my basket still there when I come back?
We save your basket in your own browser (using localStorage) so you don’t lose it if you close the page. It stays on your device and isn’t sent to us until you check out. We don’t use tracking or marketing cookies.
Personalisation
Will you check my spelling?
We engrave or print exactly what you type, so please check names, dates and spellings carefully. We don’t correct spellings, because unusual spellings are often deliberate. You’ll tick a box at checkout to confirm your personalisation is correct.
Does a person check my design before it’s made?
Yes. Every order is checked by a real person before it’s engraved or printed. If your photo is likely to come out poorly, or something looks wrong, we’ll email you before we go ahead.
What makes a good photo?
A bright, sharp photo taken on a phone camera is usually perfect. Avoid screenshots, heavily zoomed-in shots and very dark photos. For engraving, photos with a clear subject and good contrast work best, as the laser engraves in a single tone.
Can I use any photo or logo?
Only photos and artwork you own or have permission to use. We can refuse designs that are offensive, or that use copyrighted or trademarked material such as football club crests, brand logos or cartoon characters without permission.
Will my item look exactly like the preview?
The preview is a close guide to layout and wording. Real-life results vary a little: engraving shade depends on the material, and wood grain and slate texture are different on every piece.
Delivery
How long will my order take?
We make each order in 1–3 working days, then Royal Mail usually delivers in 2–3 working days.
How much is delivery?
UK delivery is a flat £4.99 per order. See Delivery & Returns for details.
Do you deliver outside the UK?
Not at the moment. We only deliver to UK addresses.
What’s the last order date for Christmas?
Order by 15 December for delivery before Christmas, Royal Mail permitting.
Can I collect my order?
For custom and business orders, local collection from Sowerby Bridge can be arranged. Email us at grant@laserandink.co.uk to ask.
Returns & problems
Can I return a personalised item?
Because personalised items are made to your specification, they can’t be returned for a change of mind. This is allowed under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. Your rights for faulty or damaged items are not affected.
My item arrived damaged or wrong. What do I do?
Email grant@laserandink.co.uk within 14 days of delivery with your order number and a photo of the problem. If it’s damaged, faulty, misprinted or our mistake, we’ll replace or refund it.
I made a spelling mistake. Can you fix it?
If you spot it before we’ve made your item, email us straight away and we’ll update it. If it’s already been made, we can make a new one at the normal price, as we engrave and print exactly what was entered.
My parcel hasn’t arrived.
If it hasn’t arrived within 10 working days of dispatch, let us know. We’ll chase it with Royal Mail and, if it’s lost, remake it or refund you.
Engraving & printing
What’s the difference between engraving and printing?
Laser engraving burns your design into the material, giving a permanent, single-tone finish on wood or glass. Sublimation printing bonds full-colour ink into a specially coated surface or fabric, so it’s ideal for photos in colour.
Will the design wear off?
Engraving is permanent and won’t rub off. Sublimation prints are bonded into the surface rather than sitting on top, so they won’t peel or crack. Follow the care instructions on each product page to keep them looking their best.
Why does my wooden coaster look different from the photo?
Wood is a natural material, so grain, colour and knots vary. That means the engraving can be slightly lighter or darker on each piece. It’s part of what makes each one unique.
Are the mugs and glasses dishwasher safe?
Please check the care information on each product page. As a rule, hand washing keeps printed items looking good for longest.
