Choosing a personalised photo mug

Our personalised photo mug is an 11oz (330ml) ceramic mug, the familiar everyday size for tea and coffee. The print wraps around the body, so there is room for a photo and a short message of up to 40 characters, such as a name, a nickname or a line only the recipient will understand.

All white or a splash of colour

Keep it classic in all white, or pick a coloured handle and inside: black, red, pink, light blue, green, yellow or purple. A coloured interior is a nice way to tie the mug to a football team, a favourite colour or the colours in your photo.

Getting the photo right

• Size: photos at least 1000px wide print sharpest. Use the original from your phone rather than a screenshot or a picture that has been forwarded through a messaging app, which shrinks it.
• Shape: landscape photos suit the wrap-around shape best.
• Subject: a clear, well-lit shot of one or two faces (or a pet) reads better across a breakfast table than a large group photo.

How the print is made

We use dye sublimation. Heat and pressure turn the ink into a vapour that bonds with the special coating on the mug, so your design becomes part of the surface rather than a layer sitting on top. It won't peel like a sticker, and the mug is dishwasher and microwave safe.

Ideas for what to put on it

• Grandchildren on a mug for Nan or Grandad, with a line like "World's Best Grandad"
• The family dog, for the person who misses them most at work
• An end-of-term thank you for a teacher or teaching assistant
• A named mug for the office, so nobody "borrows" it again

Made to order and checked by a person

Every mug is printed to order in 1–3 working days, then sent by Royal Mail, which usually takes 2–3 working days. UK delivery is a flat £4.99.
